Take Care Of Yourself

Hi this is Dave Kats with Therapist Consultants and I have a tip for you. You know, now may the time that you need to take care of yourself. You’ve heard the old saying, “Physician heal thyself” well I would say “Therapist heal thyself.

You have to take some time off for self-care. You have to take time off so you can relax and enjoy your practice. You want to make a good living at it, and have fun doing it. So here is what you do:

1. Work early or late, but not both. You can start earlier in the morning or work late at night, but don’t do both.

2. Think about a 4-day work week. To tell you truth, many countries and many areas in the United States have moved to a 4 day work week.

Just this week I was looking for an orthodontist online. I found the 10 closets orthodontists near me and all 10 of them were closed on Friday. They all worked Monday-Thursday. Consider a 4-day work week. That will give you a 3 day weekend for the rest of your life. Make sure that you also plan a vacation. A vacation is good to take, but it’s important to plan the vacation ahead of time so you experience the positive expectation of the vacation ahead of time.

The last thing I would encourage you to do is to think about hiring domestic help. Someone to help you with house keeping or lawn care. You are now in a position as a professional, making a good income so that you can hire someone to do the things you don’t have time to do, and free you up for the things you need to do. I believe by doing this, you will have a much happier life!
