4 Ways to Build Your Practice

Nov 17, 2020

Hi, this is Dave Kats with Therapist Consultants and I have a tip for you.

Did you know there are only four ways to build your practice? That's right, just four ways. Everything else you do doesn't make a difference or is a subcategory of one of these four ways. Here are the four ways. You can get more new patients, you can do more patient visits, you can provide more services to the patients, or you can collect more and effectively.

Now, today, I want to talk about just briefly what each one of those entails, because we're going to talk about it in detail over the next four weeks. What would you do to get more new patients? I would say that I would use the internet because that's the hottest thing right now. They say, if you want to win the race it's best to ride the fastest horse, and right now the internet is the fastest horse. That's where you should be advertising.

How about increasing your patient visits? That's mainly office procedure. If you give them a good written report on the second visit that says, "Here's how many times you need to come in and here's what we're going to do each time." If you advanced multiple schedule all their visits at the same time, then you'll have a great increase in patient visits. We'll talk about that in detail later. What about services rendered? I think if you're not doing assessments or if you're not doing enough assessments, you should be doing assessments on practically everybody and that will improve the services rendered. What about collections? I think you should run an aging of accounts every month and make sure you know who owes you, how long they owe you, if the insurance company's paying, if you take insurance, and everything else. Just make sure that you collect on a regular monthly basis, get everything down to zero as far as what people owe you.

Those are the things I would do. Now, we’re going to spend the next four weeks talking about those things because this video goes out to a lot of people, goes out to between 30,000 and 40,000 therapists every week. I want to make sure that you're on the next four weeks and we'll talk about those things and bring to life the things you need to do to build your practice.

This is Dave Kats. Thanks for listening.
