Sticky Situations: What To Say When You Don't Know What To Say

A self-paced CE course designed to help mental health clinicians navigate challenging, uncomfortable, and unexpected moments in therapy with greater confidence, presence, and clinical awareness.

Includes required post-test + CE certificate

This CE training is designed especially for:

  • Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs)
  • Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists (LMFTs)
  • Mental health counselors and psychotherapists
  • Clinicians working in private practice, group practice, or agency settings
  • New clinicians building confidence in difficult or unexpected therapeutic interactions
  • Experienced clinicians looking to strengthen their therapeutic presence and reflective practice
  • Supervisors supporting clinicians through challenging clinical situations

This course is appropriate for both new and experienced clinicians who want practical tools for those moments in therapy when they simply aren’t sure what to say next.

Throughout this 3-hour CE course, you’ll explore how to recognize and navigate “sticky situations,” including silence, difficult interactions, therapeutic ruptures, sessions that begin to drift, and moments of uncertainty. Rather than relying on perfect scripts, this training emphasizes curiosity, self-awareness, relational repair, thoughtful communication, and remaining present when therapy doesn’t go exactly as planned.

Instructor: Joel Duncan, Therapist Consultants
