Progress Reports
Hi. I’m Linda Kats with Therapist Consultants and I’ve got a tip for you.
I want to talk to you for just a moment about progress reports. If you will do a progress report, it will really help you in your practice but more importantly, it will help your patient. The way that it helps you the most is it keeps you and your patient on the same page about their progress.
When you and the patient are on the same page about their progress and you’re talking about it, the main thing it does is it keeps your patient actively involved in their treatment. Because a progress report many times is used to determine; is there more sessions that need to be added to what is already going to happen with the patient’s treatment?
When the patients are involved and connected with their progress reports, they stay focused and connected with their treatment and guess what happens with that; they become more compliant and they will stay through the end of treatment. When you talk with your patient together about the progress, that reinvigorates you and it also helps get you back on track if you guys have gotten off track just a little a bit. Progress reports are invaluable and it keeps your patient connected. That’s the most important thing for them.
